Queensland White Cypress (QLDWC) is a beautiful and versatile timber. It features attractive golden honey and creamy white tones, highlighted by distinctive, tight knot patterns. Durable and easy to work with, it suits a wide range of applications.
Ideal for gates and feature fencing, it also performs exceptionally well in decking and pergolas.
Queensland White Cypress has been used for house stumps in Australia for over 100 years, proving its reliability time and time again through both practical use and scientific testing.
It is available in sizes from 42 × 42 up to 200 × 200, with everything in between.
Over the past few years, we’ve noticed a concerning trend: Macrocarpa Cypress is increasingly being sold for the same applications as Queensland White Cypress (QLDWC).
While the names may sound similar, these timbers are not the same, and the difference matters:
Macrocarpa is cheaper for a reason — it is an inferior timber for external use. As a species of pine, it does not offer the long-term durability properties that Queensland White Cypress is known for.
That’s not to say Macrocarpa doesn’t have its place. It performs well in internal applications such as kitchen benchtops, internal linings, and flooring. However, it should not be used where a long-term external lifespan is required.
